March 6 - Celebration of the Present

imageThe next stage of our “Come to the Table” journey is near completion!

Join us for worship and a potluck on Sunday, March 6 as we celebrate all that God is doing in the world today!

Worship begins at our usual time of 10:15 am in the Fellowship Hall and we will share in a potluck feast as a part of our morning of worship, conversation and fellowship. Our celebration will draw to a close around noon.

Update: photos and videos from our Celebration are now being uploaded to our Come to the Tablepage.

Pastor’s Note: I signed up for what?!

With January comes a whole year of new beginnings, fresh starts, opportunities and obligations.  Yes, obligations.

Remember all the way back to September when our Lay Leadership committee started knocking on doors and making phone calls and asking some of you to serve for 2011?  Well, guess what?  2011 is here!

But along with old team members stepping off of committees and new team members coming on, I have a few things to share.

First of all, in 2011, I don’t want to meet just for the sake of meetings.  It wastes your time, it wastes my time, and it makes us all not want to meet again in the future.  So I promise that when we get together, it will be for a reason!

Second, each committee and team meetings will now be scheduled by the committee/team leader.  I will be working closely with each one to give them support, but the goal here is to help empower our leadership to actually lead!  If you have a concern, question, or comment – please bring it to the team leader that is appropriate!

Third, if you are not currently serving (and if you are) we want to be sure to surround our leaders with prayer and support.  I want to encourage you to take this list of leaders and put it on your fridge, or by your nightstand and when you pass by to lift up all of those who are working so hard to serve our church.

Lastly, as a way of encouraging especially those who have stepped up to take on a leadership position, we will have a Leader’s Retreat on January 29 from 9-12 am. We will answer any of your questions, do some team building, and focus on expectations you are to share with the rest of the team members for 2011.

I am excited to get to work.  I hope you are, too!

Year End Giving

image One of the ways that God teaches churches to act on faith is that much of the revenue needed to complete a congregational budget comes in during December, especially the last two weeks of December.  Our congregation has been extremely faithful this year, but we also still rely upon those year end contributions to help us meet our obligations… [Read More]

Church as Scheduled for 12/12

image We will be open this morning - but we want to encourage all of you to use your own discretion as far as driving in. If you do not live in town and have to travel over open roadways, you might want to stay home.  We would prefer that you be safe rather than sorry!

We are scheduled to have an Administrative Board meeting after worship today - we will see how many folks are able to be there and make a decision about postponing this morning.
