The new EmpowHer micro loan program in Nigeria targeting United Methodist Women was coordinated by a 2010 graduate from Cornell College, Brittany Atchison. Working with her Nigerian counterpart, Rev. Hannatu Robinson, she implemented the micro loan program starting with one group of ten women in Sept. 2010 with forty groups of ten or four hundred women in May, 2011. These women had been given the equivalent of $66 as a loan.
Come and hear the amazing stories about how such a small amount of money can make a HUGE difference! Brittany Atichison will begin speaking at 6:00 and refreshments will follow!
Stop by this Thursday evening from 4:30-7:00 for our annual Soup and Sandwich Supper!
We will be serving chicken noodle soup, chili, egg salad sandwiches, ham sandwiches and lots of fresh baked desserts!
The proceeds from our supper go to support the United Methodist Women and their local mission giving. Make a difference and get a full belly at the same time!
After nearly eighteen months of prayer, study, work, and a lot of good food along the way, we want to share the vision that God is calling the people of First United Methodist Church to live out. This vision is still a draft - something for us to pray over, think about, and really decide if we can and will commit ourselves to living it out. Please read it here, interact with it, share your thoughts on our vision wall at the church, and if you are ready.... say “YES” to God’s vision.
We are joining together with other churches in our community for Worship in the Park. Bring your lawn chairs, your friends and your neighbors and join us at 10:45am. Music will be shared by the Believers Community Choir. All are welcome!
